Where Can I Find Wireless Hotspots?
Hotspots are all around you. Some of your neighbors, for example, are unwittingly running public WiFi hotspots because they never turned on the security for their wireless access points.
Other hotspots are run by local retailers hoping to attract business. For example, many Dunn Bros. coffee shops offer free wireless access, provided by local company SurfThing.
Some private individuals offer the public the use of their wireless hotspots on purpose. Many of the members of the Twin Cities Wireless User Group (TCWUG) are working to unwire Loring Park, offering free wireless Internet access to one and all.
Other hotspots cost money to use. Networks run by Boingo, Wayport, and T-Mobile require you to cough up cash to go unwired.
Below is a list of places you can go to find out about wireless hotspots in your area.
